Memorandum of Understanding between
Mekong Institute (MI), and
Economic Research Institute for Trade (ERIT)
Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Lao PDR The ERIT and the MI intend to facilitate cooperation initiatives in the area of trade and investment promotion to increase awareness and information sharing amongst key stakeholders through joint research, workshops and seminars and regional and international forums.The modalities of cooperation will involve MI and ERIT to work together towards Trade and Investment Facilitation in Lao PDR in particular and in GMS region in general through:
- Conducting joint training, workshops and seminars
- Undertaking collaborative research projects
- Exchanging of personnel as resource persons and visiting research fellows
- Information related to Markets, Products and Policies involving International Markets,
- Library services
The specific operational activities and resources support will be mutually agreed by both the parties. Any commitment of resources, financial or otherwise, must be made in specific arrangements to be entered into for this purpose as and when required and on a cost sharing basis.
This MoU may be jointly reviewed and evaluated. Any amendment or modification of this MoU shall only be made on the basis of a mutually agreed written statement signed by both institutes.
Neither institute shall be legally or financially liable in any way for activities carried out independently by other party. No provision of this MoU would constrain either institute to undertake its own activities independently.
This MoU can be terminated by either of the institutes subject to a written notice of at least 3 months.
This MoU shall become effective on the date of signature by both institutes. Two originals of the text of this MoU, written in English, have been signed, of which the parties have taken one each.
