The 2nd Trade Executive Meeting, the forum for Trade, Transparency, and information exchange
In recognizing the important of establishing a strong coordination mechanism at program implementation level for Trade and Private Sector Development, the Trade Executive Committee (TEC) mechanism has been established to provide strategic advice, coordination and common operating guidelines with regard to the implementation of trade elated programs and projects in Lao PDR. In addition, the TEC will provide a forum for transparency and information exchange in the development implementation of Trade Related Assistant.
On 12 June 2012, the second TEC meeting held at Lao plaza hotel with the participants from all projects donors, key implementation coordinators from Ministry of Industry and Commerce and other implementing agencies from line ministries. The meeting chaired by Mme Khemmani Pholsena, Vice Minister, Ministry of Industry and Commerce and co-chaired by Dr Stefan Lock, Head of Cooperation Section, EU and also the Repetitive from donors and facilitator including World Bank, Germany, Australia and Switzerland for all TDF, GIZ, JSDF, SECO and EIF projects.
Speaking at her opening remarks, Mme Khemmani Pholsena expressed that " Today's meeting event reinforce our commitment to trade and private sector development in this country, including its development agenda and implementation mechanism and deepens the already strong partnership between MOIC and Development partners and International implementation agencies."
During the meeting Mr Phouvieng Phongsa, Director of National Implementation Unit, presented the key activities and achievement from each Component of the TDF project especially focused on the key achievements and also together discuss on the work plan for the remaining period of TDF project. The representatives from Garment Skill Development Centre (GSC) and the Enhancing sustainable tourism, clean product and export capacity in Lao PDR (UN Cluster Project) presented and updated their updated activities during the previous time. Moreover, the participants has opportunity to discuss key issue related to achievement and main activities defined in the work plan as well as discussion on the implementation of trade programs to find the best way to support the development outcomes.
